The Illusion of Freedom

"The illusion of freedom [in America] will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

Frank Zappa, musician and cultural iconoclast.

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans..."

Bill Clinton (USA TODAY, 11 March 1993, page 2A)

"We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

John Swinton, New York Times editor, in a speech before the New York Press Club 1953.

Remember the above quote when you read any national syndicated newspaper
such as the New York Times etc.
